Syrian counsel for foreign market entry
Syria is legally open. The route is not obvious and the counterparty risk is real. The firm takes foreign investors, their companies and their advisers from an entry decision to a licensed, screened, operating company under Syrian law — in Arabic, French and English.

Scope. The firm advises on Syrian law only. Questions under the law of any other jurisdiction are referred to counsel licensed there, and nothing on this site is an offer of legal services in Canada or in any other jurisdiction. Counterparties are screened before every engagement against the restriction lists in force that day.

Has led the firm since 1980, and has practised before the Syrian courts throughout. His work centres on customs law, and on the complex customs matters and disputes that arise for importers and industrial concerns, alongside long-standing advisory relationships with commercial companies.
يقود المكتب منذ عام ١٩٨٠، ويمارس الترافع أمام المحاكم السورية طوال تلك المدة. تتركّز ممارسته في القانون الجمركي، وفي القضايا والمنازعات الجمركية المعقّدة التي تعرض للمستوردين والمنشآت الصناعية، إلى جانب علاقات استشارية ممتدة مع شركات تجارية.
Commercial, civil, real property and personal status matters before the Syrian courts, and advisory work on transactions, licensing and regulatory compliance. Master 2 in business law, Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas; common law LL.M., Osgoode Hall Law School. Works in Arabic, French and English.
Alongside the Damascus practice, he acts on international mandates — real estate and tourism development, mining, and corporate and commercial matters — across North Africa, Central Africa and the Gulf.

Opened the practice in Damascus in 1960 and appeared before the Syrian courts for four decades, in commercial, civil and personal status matters. The firm he founded is now in its third generation.
